No, your eyes do not deceive you. We are, in fact, dedicating this post to what is possibly the most iconic hairstyle of all time. The mullet.
We have no idea who first sat down in the barber chair (or perhaps on the rusty fender of a friend’s pickup truck) and asked for a hairstyle that could be both business in the front, and party in the back… but whoever you are, we salute you.
Mullets are not only stylish, they are practical as well. Say you want to take a walk on the beach, but you don’t want to have to worry about your hair getting in your eyes. Solution? The mullet.
Uh-oh, it’s family picture time. What can you do to make this year’s picture really stand out? Forget matching outfits. You take it to the next level. Matching mullets.
Your son brings home a note from his teacher saying he cheated on a test and punched a kid in the face. To punish him, you pull out your scissors and razor and create this:
Sorry mom, joke’s on you. This haircut is cool.
Now maybe you are saying, “sure, these people look wicked cool with mullets, but I’d like to see people in the public eye try to rock one.” Well, ask and you shall receive, my friends. First, to show you that ladies can rock a mullet too, I give you the amazing Pat Benatar:
There’s a lot of reasons Pat is one of our heroes, and one of them is because of how brave she is for pulling of this amazing hairstyle in a classy, feminine way.
And how about the most famous mullet of all time?
Now that one is truly a masterpiece. I like to call this the ‘you missed a spot’ mullet.
So you see, mullets can be worn by anyone! Celebrities, regular people, men, women, children, and yes, even dogs.
We invite you to take special notice of people around you who refuse to let the mullet go out of style. Before you go and mock these people, pause and reflect. It takes a lot of balls to face certain public humiliation and decide to get a mullet anyway.
(After you are done reflecting, please feel free to mock all you like.)
