Happy Birthday…or the only reason we seem to keep the blog going!

10 03 2012

OH! oh…what smells like V05 Hot Oil and White Diamonds perfume? Wait, it’s Nicole! She turns 25 today! These days, age seems to be the only category I am more advanced in than my best friend…other than looks and intelligence, of course. Anywho, I’d like to welcome her to the land of everyone telling her that she is now a quarter of a century and being able to rent a car. Riveting stuff here.

We’ve been hetero life mates for over a decade now, and I feel pretty good about that. We always manage to pick up right where we left off when we reunite. In fact, it’s almost as if we travel back in time. When we are together, we instinctively revert to the 14-year-old versions of ourselves. We use phrases that were popular-ish in 2001, call anyone and everyone a nob, and one of us passes out tittie twisters like candy on Halloween. Sidenote: Nik’s husband claims that we are the only two females capable of making girls touching each other’s boobs NOT sexy. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I guess.

Turns out there is a name for what we suffer from makes us awesome.

Yes, we have revertigo.

Could be worse.

Happiest birthday to the best friend anyone could ever ask for! Here’s to another 25 years of acting like we’re 14. It’s going to be really sad funny when we’re 50 and still pulling this crap.

can you say seduction?

or this…

poor Rob.

then there was this…

More collar-bone!

and finally, we can’t forget this gem.

twisted steel and sex appeal.

Love you, buddy! -A.

Addie says HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

11 03 2011

Lately I have been growing increasingly concerned with the “music” on the radio. The music that hasn’t become borderline pornographic is most likely a remake of something that was, at one time, pleasurable to listen to.

Example number 1. Rihanna. Part of her new song includes the following lyrics, “sex in the air, I don’t care. I love the smell of it.”

gross.

Example number 2. The Black Eyed Peas – The Time (Dirty Bit).

I liked the original. In fact, I watched Dirty Dancing the other night and just like the 864 other time I’ve seen it, I was filled with complete joy during the final scene. That song rocks.

I’ve decided that music just isn’t what it used to be. That is why I am mostly sticking to Disney tunes. Talk about an underappreciated genre.

Nicole and I have come up with a list of our top ten Disney favorites and some honorable mentions.

Nicole’s top 5 (in no particular order)

1. Colors of the Wind – Pocahontas. Why does she love this song in particular? Because of her love for the environment and because of Rob’s vocal stylings.

2. I Just Can’t Wait to be King – The Lion King. No explanation needed.

3. I’ll Make A Man Out of You – Mulan. This one also made my top five. I sang it the other night for my little cousins. I think I pulled a hammy. That isn’t a joke either. I had trouble with the stairs this week.

4. Under The Sea – The Little Mermaid. I’ve seen a 25-year-old man singing this one with his eyes closed. Proof that everyone loves it.

5. Be Our Guest – Beauty and The Beast. Do a little interpretive dance while listening to this one. Do me a favor and video tape that interpretive dance. Do yourself a favor and never show that video to anyone.

My top 5 (in no particular order and slightly adjusted because I let the birthday girl use one of mine)

1. Once Upon A Time In New York City – Oliver & Company. I never went through a phase where I thought that this song wasn’t cool. Could be why I didn’t have a ton of friends in high school. Whatever, this song is sweet.

2. I Wanna Be Like You (The Monkey Song) – The Jungle Book. While driving to an amusement park last year, I, along with an entire car full of adults sang this song at the top of our lungs. You’re welcome to anyone who drove by and got a free show.

3. You’ve Got A Friend In Me – Toy Story. If your foot gets run over by a car, and if that car happens to be playing this song, you’ll sing along and find it hard to be angry. Seriously.

4. A Whole New World – Aladdin. Quick, the first line from this song that comes to mind! I bet it is, “don’t you dare close your eyes!”

5. Kiss The Girl – The Little Mermaid. Sha la la la la la

Honorable mentions:

Zero To Hero – Hercules

One Jump – Aladdin

Hakuna Matata – The Lion King

Belle – Beauty And The Beast

Part Of Your World – The Little Mermaid

I Won’t Say I’m In Love – Hercules

Try and tell me that those songs don’t rock more than anything on the radio right now. Now, there are a few bands worth listening to…but they aren’t exactly easy to find.

As many of you already know, we are celebrating a birthday here at TGOB! Nicole is 24 today! It has been a fabulous and eventful friendship. I can’t think of a better friend in the world. Even if her belly button is about to explode!

Happy Birthday Nik! and enjoy the tuneage, friends!

TGOB Turns One!

3 02 2011

That’s right- Two Girls, One Brain has been in operation for an entire year!!!

In honor of our first birthday, we’ve decided to spruce the place up a bit. Looks good, right? You would probably be shocked to hear how long it took us to figure out, but we are pretty impressed with ourselves anyway. Props to Addie, who figured out how to add our beautiful faces to the header. (A real head scratcher for me.)

Now, even though it is our birthday, we would like to give a gift to you, our loyal TGOB reader. (Shockingly selfless, we know.)

But what kind of gift would you enjoy the most? We thought about it long and hard, and like a bolt of lightning the answer struck….

It’s like we read your mind, I know.

And now, without further ado, the answer to your not-so-secret desires. An interview with the creative geniuses behind (the now one year old) Two Girls, One Brain.

What made you want to start writing this blog?

Nicole: I’m always looking for new ways to show people how creative and funny I am.

Adrian: Exactly! If you will listen, I will talk. Or write. Whatever it takes really.

What has been the most enjoyable part of creating/writing TGOB?

N: Finding new and hilarious things to give my two cents on has been pretty fun. And I love anytime we collaborate on a post.

A: I always find it funny when my mom and sister call to tell me they read the latest post and had a chuckle. Plus, I get to write with my best buddy. FINALLY everyone knows just how funny we are.

Which post has been your favorite so far?

N: I think the wedding myth busters was my favorite to write, because I liked poking fun at a huge, often times stuffy, industry. I also got a chuckle out of Addie’s post about making your conversation more interesting.

A: I really enjoyed my post about my Grandmother and her expectations for my future. I should write about them more. They give me plenty of good material. Nik’s friendship test was pretty awesome if you ask me.

What have you learned while working on TGOB?

N: I have learned that people search the internet for some wacky (read: disturbing) things, and for some reason the internet usually drops them off here. That’s okay though, weirdos are welcome.

A: Yeah, the things people are out there looking for. I hope they are pleasantly surprised when they find us while searching for something far more disturbing. I’ve also learned to not put a baby in a fish tank. That one really saved me.

Who do you think is your most loyal reader?

N: My husband, Rob, because I make him read the new posts as soon as they are up and then watch his face closely for any reactions. And I would have to say my mother is probably a pretty frequent visitor.

A: I would have to say my sister. Sometimes she will bring up a post on her iPhone when we are having a boring dinner at my Grandma’s to spice things up a bit. She loves this stuff.

What big things can we expect from TGOB in the future?

N: Does our site makeover count? Other than that, I think we’re going to keep trucking along, as usual. Hopefully with some more frequency!

A: That is an excellent question. If you had any idea how difficult the site makeover was for us, you wouldn’t ask for much else for the rest of the year. I can promise you we will keep spilling our thoughts as often as possible!

What do you really think of Tyra Banks?

N: I wouldn’t want to get on her bad side.

A: We would have a lot less to write about if she and her forehead weren’t around.

-N. & A.
